LearnAutoPainting.com was founded in November 2006. It all started earlier that summer when the vehicle belonging to Chris Curwen, Founder having been the victim of a hit and run accident, was badly in need of some auto body repairs. By Chris not wanting to make a claim to his insurance company nor wanting to spend a small fortune on repairs, he decided to search for instructions on how to paint a car so that he could learn the basics of auto painting himself. Chris soon realized that there was a distinct lack of quality auto painting tips and information readily available both on- and off-line. Through Chris getting to know and teaming with Dave Gage, MD of Car Cosmetics, a local and highly successful Volkswagen Group approved auto repair shop, the opportunity for Chris to learn how to paint a car was realised and soon after LearnAutoPainting.com was born.
